On November 4, 2008, Johnson County voters will be asked to throw out our current and well-tested selection system where judges are selected based on merit, experience and qualifications and instead install a partisan election system that will turn every judge into just another politician, making promises and taking money like any other politician.
If that's not enough of a reason, how about this: by electing judges, we open up the possibility of having Phill Kline in a position of power. Again.

80 sites…some nifty, some rather useless–seriously, some of the crafting sites were lame beyond belief. But the good ones are very, very good and even the mediocre ones aren't bad. It's just the crafting…if you are crafty, you already have a list as long as your arm with sites cooler than listed here (besides CRAFT Magazine and Craftster, natch).

Weight Watchers Update
I haven’t posted much lately because really, who wants to hear me talk about how I’ve lost a couple of pounds or gained half a pound? I don’t read diet blogs just because of how boring that type of posting is. However, I am going to ignore that today because I am .4 pounds away from making my 10% goal! Next week, I plan on being there. I started in mid-April, so it has definitely taken me some time. But yay! 10% weight loss is pretty damned cool in my opinion.
Hosting Change
I have recently changed my hosting away from 180 Networks, not because I don’t like Jason and the great job he does, but because I am a lazy git.
I have been using self-hosted blog software for the past few years and you know what? You have to update that shit. All I want to do is show up, blabber on for a few minutes, hit post and have everything magically appear.
I’ve been holding on to self-hosted blog softwares because I want to use personalized layouts and be In Control and I have recently decided that being In Control is a lot of bother.
So…for now, I am on WordPress.com. We’ll see if laziness suits me. I suspect it will….
TV Time
It’s getting to be that time of year again–you know what I’m talking about!
The good TV shows are coming back. Sure, we had a few shows this summer–Doctor Who, Psych and So You Think You Can Dance.
But! Next Monday? Heroes and Chuck are coming back. Ugly Betty is coming back soon. Bones is on. My Name is Earl comes back on Thursday.
I’ve been thinking about getting myself an actual TiVo soon. My boss has been talking hers up and it sounds pretty handy. Just think–I could set up a wishlist to record whenever David Tennant (Hellooooooooo DOCTOR!) is in something. Plus, they’re coming up with a new app for the Blackberry soon that will allow you to interface with your TiVo and tell it to do stuff. I am quite fond of remote control. ;-) I’ve been looking around and I can pick up an 80 hour TiVo on eBay for about $100 or I can spend $150 and know it’s under warranty for a year or I can spend a couple hundred dollars and pick one up with a lifetime subscription on it, which means I don’t have to pay monthly fees. Hmmm….decisions.�
