Postcard for Grandma, 2

Bananas have special significance for my family. I also hate the smell of bananas and have actually almost thrown up a few times when smelling them in confined quarters. These two facts are in no way related.

Postcard for Grandma, 1

This is the Liberty Memorial in KCMO. It is a World War 1 memorial/museum. The museum is located beneath the base of the pillar. The two buildings flanking the pillar are the original museum/meeting hall. You can go up in the pillar and (I am told) get a great view of KC. Sadly, I can’t vouch for that because the elevator was being worked on when I visited, so they weren’t letting anyone go up.

Many people in KC like to make cracks about the giant penis and you know what? I’m one of them.

I have 29 postcards that have been sitting about with no purpose. I’ll go somewhere, grab a postcard or two because they’re cheap and I will have every intention of sending them to…someone.

Thing is, I never quite seem to send them off. Or I’ll write the postcard out and then possibly even stamp it and it just doesn’t quite hit the mailbox.

I went through my postcards tonight and you know what? I found two that I had written and not sent and got to thinking that:

1. I’d be sad to know there is an addressed, written postcard for me out there that someone hasn’t sent because they are lazy.

2. It’s rather sad that I’ve only addressed two postcards in the past three years.

I like getting postcards! I have a friend who sent me two postcards when he toured Europe earlier this year and they were great. I even like getting the promotional postcards that are telling me that I can get a discount on a bra if I go in or a new book is coming out.

Postcards are just a fun, cheap, colorful way to say hi.

As it turns out, I have 29 little paper rectangles in front of me, just wanting to say hi to someone. Would you like a postcard? If so, please leave me a comment on this entry and I will send you an email to get your mailing address. I’m also putting this out there on Facebook and Twitter. I’ll try to keep you updated as postcards get written and go out.

New Moon

So yeah, I’m gonna go see New Moon this afternoon with a friend. I feel like a grownup, I tell ya. I do love the misspelling of Saga that has been printed on (I assume) thousands of tickets. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile

I’m a member of Houlihan’s HQ and got an email about their upcoming cupcake offerings. They let us know about cupcakes and you KNOW my ears perked up for that.

On the left is a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting and what looks like crushed butterfinger on top. Tasty, but the frosting was goopy and slid off the cupcake in spots.

In the middle is vanilla with vanilla frosting and white chocolate shavings. Oddly enough, it also had half a starlight mint on top. This frosting was too thick and didn’t pull away when I pulled part of the cake away. The cake itself was nothing special, either. Gotta give it some love for the white chocolate shavings.

On the right is a chocolate cake with Kahlua frosting. The cake was too crumbly, the frosting was too thick, but it was tasty.

Overall, the peanut butter won for taste and ease of eating. If I was out with a group of friend and they wanted to split cupcakes, I would not turn them down. Too much for just me, however. I will spare you a picture of the carnage I left behind.
