I didn’t take many pictures while I was there because I was busy keeping my shit together. Turns out that I handled the crowds pretty poorly compared to the last con I visited.

Note to self: secure Xanax before the next con.

I got some pretty nifty swag–a poster, some artwork to frame, a Stay Puft marshmallow man, a Buffy sketch book from Georges Jeanty, some pins and some vinyl stickers.

Oh, and the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who Monopoly game. I’m trying to convince my sister to play it with me, but apparently I always won when we played Monopoly as kids and she claims she’s scarred. Hmph.

Here are my three favorite photos of the day. Please ignore the fact that I clearly need to stop wearing and/or burn that shirt.

That’s right. I met Wolverine. Didn’t drool on him or anything (I waited until after he walked away. I’m classy like that.)

I buddied up to a Dalek. I think it’s decided to accept peace, love and happiness. Either that, or it’s dead. Whatever.

I found the TARDIS! Sadly, the Doctor was not waiting to whisk me away, but I’m sure it’ll happen next time…right?

I know that she’s married to Neil Gaiman, who has written some fabulous books. Seriously, go read Neverwhere or American Gods.

I remember hearing the song Coin Operated Boy and thinking it was highly entertaining and more than just a little bit different. Beyond that, I don’t know if I could identify any of her music.

Based on this video, I’m going to go ahead and say she’s pretty damn awesome.

I fell down the Wiki rabbit hole and discovered that the person who wrote the title song was Fountains of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger. (Don’t know Fountains of Wayne? Go watch Stacy’s Mom and Hey Julie and then come back here.)

Schlesinger and Mike Viola are who you actually hear singing in the movie and you can see them sing it in the clip below.

Here’s a clip from the movie of The Wonders playing a big crowd after they’ve started to gain a following.

When I was looking up the song, I discovered that there have been several covers. I know some people can’t stand covers (hi Mom!), but I love them.

Next up, let’s check out a boy band covering a fictional boy band’s song. Be sure to bask in the glory of the velvet pants worn by NSYNC.

I know that sometimes, you just need to go punk. Am I right? Sadly, there’s no footage of New Found Glory actually playing, so enjoy the cheesetastic picture that appears to be from some time around the late 90s.

Next up we have a rock band, The Knack, who I always associate with their first hit song My Sharona and the movie Reality Bites (Netflix link!). My my my MY SHARONA!

Ever heard of Shakalabbits? Me either, but they’re a Japanese rock band who decided to make a video of their cover. I have to say, this was the cover I was most unsure about, but I actually like it quite a bit.

Last, but not least (we’re going to give the title of least to New Found Glory) is Bubblegum Lemonade, a Scottish Indie Pop group who has a slightly dreamy feel.

Now, I know that some people prefer to think of Thanksgiving as Slapsgiving, and I’m cool with that and wish you a happy Slapsgiving.

But perhaps you prefer Friends?

I still think they should release DVDs of just the Thanksgiving episodes.

Some people may notice that I have thus far left out my favorite Thanksgiving tradition–listening to Alice’s Restaurant while driving to wherever I plan on eating turkey that year.

So just remember…you can get anything you want, at Alice’s Restaurant! (excepting Alice)

I read Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel + Faith and Captain Marvel on a regular basis and occasionally pick up additional comics. Just in the past few months, I’ve picked up Uncanny Avengers, Spike, Willow, Deadpool and a Doctor Who/Star Trek crossover.

I have a great time reading the comics and I always enjoy how the artwork and storylines. However, I’ve come to discover a problem.

What do I do with the comics when I’m done with them? Currently, they’re piled up all around my apartment and I’ve been trying to avoid piles and clutter.

(We’re taking a moment here for Mom to stop giggling.)

Do I go further down the rabbit hole and buy a storage box, bags and boards and start storing them properly after I’ve read them? If so, what is my ultimate goal? Am I hoping that someday someone will want to buy them or read them? Will I read them again?

Or do I start giving them away or discarding them or selling them after I’m done with them? Will I regret it if I get rid of them? Will it feel like a waste of money?
