Friday Faves

This has been a long, shitty exhausting week. My sleep schedule is all out of whack because of training. I’ve passed training, but I’ll still be all screwed up for another week or two because I’m working someone else’s schedule and it’s so freaking early. Davie Bowie died. Alan Rickman died. Several of my friends are also having a tough week. It’s hard to think about favorites this week, but here goes:

Favorite driving moment – I gave someone room to merge on the highway and they actually waved. Weird, right?

Favorite maturity moment – tied between getting one step closer to paying off personal debts and throwing away my old crappy oven mitts. (Don’t worry, I have new mitts. I haven’t decided to build up burn callouses.)

Can you believe I don't already have burn callouses after using these things for so long?

Favorite immaturity moment – I bought a giant tub of cheese balls because I’m having people over tomorrow night and figured they’d think it was funny.

Favorite selfie – This may not be a big deal to you, but I am outside after work and it’s still light out. Amazing.

Favorite David Bowie moment – While I probably heard Bowie songs before Labyrinth, it was the first time I was really aware of Bowie. Jareth the Goblin King was (and still is) a fascinating character and he could only have been played by Bowie.

Favorite Alan Rickman role – Colonel Brandon in Sense & Sensibility. It’s not that I don’t love his portrayal of Severus Snape. I always watch Harry in Love Actually and hope that this time he doesn’t turn into an absolute shithead. He was marvelously funny in Dogma, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Despite all this, his performance in Sense & Sensibility is what I wanted to watch after hearing he passed away.

Favorite cover of a Bowie song – For after all, I do love covers.

Favorite song of the moment – Renee Olstead – Sleepwalk (Santo & Johnny Cover)
