On June 30, I was able to participate in Broadway history.
Let’s face it–I live in Kansas and it’s not often I get to make statements like that. My city is where touring productions come for their last shows.
Broadway HD live-streamed She Loves Me, which is a delightful musical based on Miklos Laszlo’s play Parfumerie. Doesn’t sound familiar? It’s had three prior adaptations: Shop Around the Corner, In the Good Old Summertime, and You’ve Got Mail.
It won a Tony this year for set design, but probably would have won more had it not been up against Hamilton.
After watching the show, I snagged the soundtrack because it’s so damned cute. I’ve heard that they might be airing the show in theaters this fall and I look forward to the chance to see it on the big screen.
The live-stream recording is only available until the 7th, at which point it will be taken off the site for editing. I hope it returns! Better yet, I hope it gets released to DVD someday.
